Ethics Code
Diá-logos is a scientific journal that seeks the highest international excellence; for this reason, it is inspired by the ethical code of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), directed to both editors and reviewers and authors.
Authors' Commitments
- Originality and fidelity of data: The authors of the articles submitted to the Diá-logos journal assure that the work is original and unpublished, that it does not contain parts of other authors or other fragments of works already published by the authors. In addition, they confirm the veracity of the data; that is, that the empirical data have not been altered to verify hypotheses.
- Multiple and/or repetitive publications: The author must not publish articles in which the same results are repeated in more than one scientific journal or any other publication of an academic or non-academic nature. Sending an article simultaneously to multiple scientific journals is considered an unethical practice.
- Attributions, citations and references: The author must always indicate the correct indication of the sources and contributions mentioned in the article.
- Authorship: The authors ensure the inclusion of those people who have made a significant scientific and intellectual contribution in the preparation of the work as well as in the analysis of the results and in the writing of the same. At the same time, the order of appearance of the authors has been ranked according to their level of responsibility and involvement.
- Access and retention: If the members of the Editorial Board consider it pertinent, the authors of the articles must also make available the sources or data on which the research work is based, which can be kept for a prudent period of time after publication and possibly made accessible.
- Conflict of interest and disclosure: All authors are obliged to explicitly declare that there are no conflicts of interest that may have influenced the results obtained or the interpretations proposed. The authors must also report any funding from agencies and/or projects from which the research article arises.
- Errors in published articles: When an author identifies a significant error or inaccuracy in his or her article, he or she must immediately inform the editor of the journal and provide all the necessary information to list the relevant corrections at the bottom of the article (always in a marginal note, so as not to alter the publication).
- Responsibility: The responsibility for the content of the articles published in «Diá-logos» is exclusively that of the authors. The authors also undertake to ensure that a review of the most current and relevant scientific literature on the subject analysed has been carried out, taking into account the different currents of knowledge in a plural way.
Reviewers' Commitments
-
Contribution to the editorial decision: Peer review is a process that helps editors make decisions about proposed articles and also allows the author to improve the quality of articles submitted for publication. Reviewers undertake to make a critical, honest, constructive and unbiased review of both the scientific and literary quality of the writing in the field of their knowledge.
-
Respect for review times: The reviewer who considers that he or she is not competent in the subject to be reviewed or who cannot finish the evaluation in the scheduled time must immediately notify the editor of the journal. Reviewers undertake to evaluate the works in the shortest possible time to respect the delivery deadlines established by the journal.
-
Confidentiality: Each assigned manuscript must be considered confidential. Therefore, these texts should not be discussed with other people without the express consent of the editor.
-
Objectivity: Peer review must be carried out objectively. Reviewers are required to give sufficient reasons for each of their assessments, always using the review template. Reviewers will submit a complete critical report with appropriate references according to the “Diá-logos” review protocol and the public guidelines for reviewers; especially if it is proposed that the work be rejected. They are required to advise the editor if substantial parts of the work have already been published or are under review for another journal.
-
Text display: Reviewers undertake to accurately indicate the bibliographical references of fundamental works possibly forgotten by the author. The reviewer must also inform the editor of any similarities or overlaps of the article with other published works.
-
Anonymity: To ensure that the review process is as objective, impartial and transparent as possible, the identity of the authors is suppressed before the works are sent to peer review. If the identity of the authors, their institutional affiliations or any other data that puts the anonymity of the document at risk has been compromised for any reason, the reviewer must immediately notify the editor.
Editors' Commitments
-
Publication Decision: The editor will ensure the selection of the most qualified and scientifically specialized reviewers to provide a critical and expert assessment of the work, with the least possible bias. "Diá-logos" selects between 2 and 3 reviewers for each work to ensure greater objectivity in the review process.
-
Honesty: The editor evaluates the articles submitted for publication on the basis of the scientific merit of the content, without discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic origin, nationality, or political opinion of the authors.
-
Confidentiality: The editor and the members of the working group undertake not to disclose information related to the articles submitted for publication to persons other than authors, reviewers, and editors. The editor and the Editorial Committee undertake to maintain the confidentiality of the manuscripts, their authors, and reviewers, so that anonymity preserves the intellectual integrity of the entire process.
-
Conflict of interest and disclosure: The editor undertakes not to use content from articles submitted for publication in his/her research without the written consent of the author.
-
Respect for timeliness: The editor is ultimately responsible for compliance with the time limits for reviews and publication of accepted papers, to ensure rapid dissemination of their results. They are fully committed to complying with the published timelines (maximum 60 days for the estimation/rejection from receipt of the manuscript on the Review Platform) and maximum 150 days from the start of the scientific peer review process).

Under no circumstances will the complaint resolution process involve revealing the identity of reviewers.
