Abstract

The question of the meaning of life and philosophy were born at the same time in the Greek world. The anguish generated by the finiteness of human existence is what motivates man to ask himself about the meaning of life. Existentialist thought takes up the question of man and his existence, reflecting again on freedom and history. This paper seeks to identify the concepts related to the meaning of life in existentialist thought by applying the method of historicization. The central thesis in this paper is that such concepts influence in Ellacuría's philosophy allowing him to propose the historical human being as the philosophical foundation of the meaning of life.
